world-qa

The groupant beside world/src/qa.rs in the Mova repository: what the code computes, what it never does, how to go back from its outputs, its invariants, cost and checks.

Facts

Implementation material. A Mova code model describes this code at one source revision: partial models, finite checks and their stated scope. It is not a reviewed general exposition, and its labels are shown as written, never raised.

Obernants

The typed relations around the forward model: the behaviour complement (what the code never does), the reverse reconstruction (every input compatible with an output) and specialised views.

world-qa

forward

Pure supplied-world query projection, ordered fallback, expectation scoring and report accounting. Scope combines child constraints through shared Answer text/from_state, IDs and immutable World.

invariant

Query output is heuristic projection from supplied state, not independently established truth. Report assessment does not train, mutate or demonstrate retained knowledge. Preserve unavailable-state and explicit control semantics.

cost

Sum query, scorer and rendering costs; avoid counting shared world storage twice. No timing, speedup, approximation error or general proof claimed.

composition

Public joins: World::apply on constructed Cmd/Line values -> answer -> verdict; read_questions -> answers_md on supplied frozen expectations. No neural parser, teacher, corpus, CLI persistence or courses executed.

behavior-complement

Domain/universe: terminating calls on consistent supplied worlds and well-formed observations in this scope. Inner absent-behavior relation excludes transitions violating the invariant above. This is a source-derived partial exclusion; unknown paths and malformed world states remain outside it. It is not a complement of merely sampled tests.

reverse-reconstruction

All compatible worlds, queries and expectation rows satisfying child constraints remain antecedents. Projection and aggregated scores lose identity and provenance; no unique inverse.

projection-boundary

Public joins: World::apply on constructed Cmd/Line values -> answer -> verdict; read_questions -> answers_md on supplied frozen expectations. No neural parser, teacher, corpus, CLI persistence or courses executed.

All three typed entries bind the manifest revision and scope. Operators are invariant exclusion, output preimage and observation constraint respectively; status is partial source modeling with finite native evidence. Reverse relations preserve all described ambiguity; no complete solver or universal inverse is provided.

checks

cargo test -p world --lib qa::wave12_models -- --test-threads=1. See the file evidence.md for actual repeated profiles and compiled controls. Partial syntax projection leaves macro bodies opaque; no semantic AST proof.

epoch-memory

2026-10-30: prospective constant-cost guards and tie comparison predicted rejection without changing valid selection or signatures. Four old-code witnesses failed: empty holder success, malformed interval broadening, empty sort panic and invented earlier narration for a tie. Narrow repairs retain ordinary substring scoring and existing historical explanation behavior. Future epistemic explanations and metadata consistency remain explicit limitations. No optimization or general percentage guarantee is inferred.

Source SHA-256: 1ce10a355698f5cc3c37ca7f8d1dacbacf8b74264c9c7c38a563aed1e4f678a5.

Eight native tests (four per source) pass twice in debug and twice in release; normalized named identities/results match across all four runs. Independent oracle cases: 160 ordered-string pairs, 375 anchor/range pairs and six valid event intervals. Four old-code witnesses fail before repair. qa mutant disables the holder cardinality guard and fails holder_requires_a_time_and_fallback_remains_available. qa3 mutant invents earlier telling at equal coordinates and fails same_telling_coordinate_does_not_invent_an_earlier_event. Both production mutants compiled, failed named runtime assertions and were restored byte-for-byte; restored focused cases and the entire eight-test slice pass.

Tests use only supplied immutable worlds, constructed commands and frozen questions. Actual joins run World::apply -> answer -> verdict and read_questions -> answers_md. No live parser/teacher/course, knowledge persistence, performance or full-world suite claim. Existing dependency warnings remain. New test modules are rustfmt formatted; no broad legacy formatting. Partial syntax is byte-identical across two runs and leaves macro bodies opaque.

Raw evidence is external under the wave12 QA run label; SHA-256 bindings:
