mova-nightingale-source

The groupant beside tools/nightingale/src/source.rs in the Mova repository: what the code computes, what it never does, how to go back from its outputs, its invariants, cost and checks.

Facts

Implementation material. A Mova code model describes this code at one source revision: partial models, finite checks and their stated scope. It is not a reviewed general exposition, and its labels are shown as written, never raised.

Obernants

The typed relations around the forward model: the behaviour complement (what the code never does), the reverse reconstruction (every input compatible with an output) and specialised views.

Model text

Descriptant

Sources and their units: tree-store files (finished .mts only, store model beside or elsewhere), parallel TSV row blocks parsed by the language's annotator, CoNLL-U files; count_unit. Source: tools/nightingale/src/source.rs.

Forward approximant

units(): sorted unit names available now; count_unit: decode or parse each sentence -> Counter -> store_part.

Invariant

An unfinished .mts.part is never a unit; a parallel unit is a fixed row range.

Cost

Tree stores: decoding about 30 MB of JSON per second per thread; parallel: the annotator's speed.

Composition

Parent: nightingale.

Behavior complement

Never writes a source. Evidence status: source-derived model with finite checks, not a proof.

Reverse reconstruction

A part's name names its unit and range.

Tests

Checks

tests/model.rs (CoNLL-U); probes of 2026-11-06 (tree stores, Tatoeba, Europarl). These are finite fixtures and measurements; not a proof.

History

Epoch 2026-11-06

First model, written with the source (the Nightingale: one per language under the Eel; a standard naturalness model with variety deltas).
